Executive Summary

The KwaZulu Natal Development Foundation is a non-governmental organization registered as a Section 21 Company. Its core functions are Skills Training, Counselling and SMME Development; and creating jobs. The Foundation seeks to implement Government's mandate as enunciated in the Small Business Act, the Skills Development Act. The Foundation is spearheaded by a dynamic Board of Management made up of reputable Community Leaders all of whom belong to the PDI's. They come from the ranks of Local Government Councillors, Business Leaders as well as from grassroot levels. Founded in 1996, the Foundation has been in existence for twelve years.

The Foundation is contracted to SEDA (Small Enterprise Development Agency) for the next three years as an Enterprise Information Centre (EIC). As an EIC the Foundation has fulfilled its contractual obligations with distinction.

The Foundation, as an EIC, has provided the following services:
- Business information and technical advice
- Analysis to screen clients for training
- Capturing of clients information on to the SEDA client database
- Making referrals to Provincial SEDA for further intervention

The Foundation has been registered by the Department of Labour as an ESDA Agency (Employment and Skills Development Agency).
